A Case of Mushroom Poisoning

Abstract

|
A case with po:soning of Amanita phalloides is presented.
The patient, six-year-old, boy complained of severe abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea 14 hours after eating mushrooms. Abdominal distension and anuria followed, and he became
progressively comatose and icteric. He expired 4½ days after the ingestion of the poison.
Three older siblings who ate the same mushrooms suffered from similar, but milder symptoms and relieved with supportive therapy.
